Public transport in Doha
Doha Metro
One of the world’s most advanced metro rail systems, Doha Metro is sleek, fast and super affordable. It consists of three lines (Red, Green and Gold) which meet at Msheireb Station. These routes will easily connect you to major areas, including Hamad International Airport, West Bay, Education City and Al Wakrah.
Buses and metrolink services
Karwa Bus is the public bus network operated by the government-owned Mowasalat. These mostly electric, air-conditioned buses connect Doha to all major towns. Metrolink, the feeder bus network, supplement metro services by shuttling passengers to and from metro stations. For more information, download the Karwa Journey Planner app.
Tram lines
There are three Doha trams to look out for:
Lusail Tram: Connects to the metro through Lusail and Legtaifiya stations, with four lines and 25 stations. Ride using your metro travel card.
Msheireb Tram: Free to ride, the tram interconnects all of Msheireb Downtown Doha (MDD). It runs around a closed loop circuit with a 2 km track.
Education City Tram (EC): Free to ride, the EC Tram network has three lines, Yellow, Blue and Green. The tram has free wi-fi and is electrically-powered, using a unique method of battery-charging.
Three ways to navigating the city by road
Travel stress-free with a local taxi, book a luxury limousine transfer or rent a vehicle to visit remote attractions such as the ancient Al Jassasiya Rock Carvings. These distance attractions require a 4x4 or travellers will get stuck in the sands/rocks.
2. Rent a car
There are many local and international car hire firms operating in Qatar, such as Avis, Budget, Europcar and Hertz. Note that to rent a car the minimum age is 21 years and you’ll need to show your passport, as well as a valid driver’s licence or international driver’s licence. In Qatar, people drive on the right-hand side of the road.

Whiz around on two wheels
Cyclists love to explore Qatar’s many lush parks and custom-built paths. Rent a bike and explore Al Bidda Park, Aspire Park or the Olympic Cycling Track. At 33km, it’s the world’s longest continuous cycle path.
Electric scooters are also becoming increasingly popular: simply download and register on an app like Falcon Ride, Loop Mobility or wer2 to see where you can unlock eco-friendly e-scooters, electronic bikes and mopeds.
